It has been proven that training for swimming in a poorly ventilated indoor swimming pool has the potential to cause illness through breathing undesirable concentrations of mainly chloroform. The systems installed in the “Water Cube” at the 2008 Summer Olympics did not rely on chlorine, which is viewed as harmful to swimmer’s lungs, eyes and may cause skin rashes. Instead, ozone technology was the number one choice for their water sanitation.
