Ozone was introduced into the beverage industry decades ago as a residual disinfectant for bottled water. It’s efficacy for water treatment prompted the International Bottled Water Association (IBWA) to require ozone in certain types of bottled water. The use of ozonated water has now spread throughout much of the beverage industry where it is used in manufacturing plants that bottle everything from beer and wine to soft drinks and juices.
